"Nepal Chhantyal Association (Nepal Chhantyal Sangh)" is the national representative organization of the "Chhantyal Indigenous community of Nepal". Its institutional development began in the 2030s B.S., with the establishment of the Chhantyal Family Association in 2043 B.S. (1986/87 A.D.). Following its first national convention in 2052 B.S. (1995/96 A.D.), the organization was renamed Nepal Chhantyal Association. It has since worked as a common representative institution for Chhantyals in Nepal and abroad. The association works to protect and promote the "Chhantyal language, culture, religion, traditions, history, identity, and Indigenous heritage", while advocating for the rights, equality, representation, and overall development of the Chhantyal community. It also supports educational, social, cultural, linguistic, and community-development initiatives. Chhantyals have a long historical association with "copper mining", particularly in the Dhaulagiri and Kali Gandaki regions of western Nepal. The association works to preserve this historical heritage and promote research and conservation of traditional Chhantyal settlements, mining sites, language, and cultural practices. Nepal Chhantyal Association has organizational structures in districts with significant Chhantyal populations and includes affiliated bodies such as the "Chhantyal Youth Association, Chhantyal Women’s Association, Chhantyal Students’ Association, and Chhantyal Research Centre". It also maintains links with Chhantyal organizations in countries including the United Kingdom, Australia, the United States, South Korea, Japan, Belgium, Portugal, and Gulf countries. The association is also affiliated with the broader Indigenous Peoples’ movement in Nepal, including the "Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities (NEFIN)", and works to strengthen Chhantyal unity, identity, cultural preservation, and Indigenous rights.
