"Sunuwar Sewa Samaj (Sunuwar Welfare Society – SWS)" is a national umbrella organization representing the Koĩts-Sunuwar Indigenous community of Nepal. Established in 1988, it works to preserve and promote the Sunuwar language, script, religion, culture, traditions, identity, and heritage while supporting the community’s social, educational, economic, and Indigenous rights.
"Sunuwar Sewa Samaj (Sunuwar Welfare Society – SWS)" is a national umbrella organization representing the "Koĩts-Sunuwar Indigenous community of Nepal". Legally established in 1988, the organization works to unite and empower the Sunuwar community while protecting and promoting its distinct language, script, religion, culture, traditions, history, and Indigenous identity. Sunuwar Sewa Samaj is dedicated to the social, educational, cultural, economic, and overall development of the Sunuwar community. It works to preserve and promote the "Koĩts language and Koĩts-BreɁse script", traditional knowledge, cultural practices, festivals, literature, and heritage, while encouraging their transmission to younger generations. The organization also supports initiatives related to mother-tongue education, cultural awareness, community development, and the protection of Indigenous Peoples’ rights. In recent years, Sunuwar Sewa Samaj has collaborated with local governments on language policy and mother-tongue education programs, including initiatives in Khijidemba Rural Municipality of Okhaldhunga. With constituent bodies, provincial and local committees, and branches or affiliated organizations abroad, Sunuwar Sewa Samaj serves as an important platform for strengthening Sunuwar unity, identity, cultural preservation, and community development in Nepal and beyond.
