**Kirat Rai Yayokkha (KRY)** is a national social organization representing the Indigenous Kirat Rai community of Nepal. Established in 1990 (2047 B.S.), the organization works to strengthen unity among the diverse Rai communities and to protect, preserve, and promote their distinct social, cultural, religious, linguistic, and historical heritage. Kirat Rai Yayokkha is dedicated to the preservation and promotion of Rai languages, Mundhum, traditional religious practices, rituals, festivals, arts, literature, customs, and indigenous knowledge. It also works to document and strengthen the cultural and linguistic diversity of the different Rai groups while promoting their identity for present and future generations. The organization advocates for the social, educational, economic, cultural, and political advancement of the Kirat Rai community. It promotes equality, social justice, Indigenous Peoples’ rights, participation, and representation while working against discrimination and social exclusion. Through its activities, programs, research, cultural initiatives, and organizational network, Kirat Rai Yayokkha seeks to bring together the diverse Rai communities of Nepal and strengthen their collective identity and social well-being. It also works with other Indigenous Peoples’ organizations and institutions to advance the broader cause of Indigenous rights and inclusion in Nepal. Kirat Rai Yayokkha remains an important institution for the preservation of Kirat Rai identity, language, culture, traditions, and heritage, while contributing to the social and cultural development of Nepal.
